Fishing with good friend Capt Mike on his 33 Contender "Tunamite" as well as Scott, Jack, and Pete we threw the lines off at 730pm just after the brutal last storm ran east. We took a slow but nice ride out with storm right infront of us the whole way giving us an amazing lightning show all night. Xm weather kept us safe and in the clear the entire time. If we got within 30miles of the storm we would have to slow down, winds would kick right up , very slow storm moving at only 16mph to the SE ran right threw the grounds we would be fishing for the night. We got to the area around 11 or so and got set up in some nice 76 degree water, didnt see anything great on the sonar but didnt want to waste to much time searching. With us being the only boat out there we figured we would bring them to us. Flat line was first to get hit and turned out to be a shark, for the next 3 hours it was constant sharks stuck it out hoping the yellows would join but never happened. around 3am we decided to make a move an ran to another spot 6miles away water was 74degrees.. started chunking hard an had a real fat yellowfin come blasting into the slick pause in the lights an nail one of the flat lines .. sickkk .. after having a good fight with this fish we finally get him in sight of the boat when about 6 sharks come out from the deep an tare apart this 80lb tuna in about 20seconds right on the surface.. for the next 3hours we had yellowfin sharks an mahi in the slick and by 8 am it was over... final tally 8 yellowfin, 3/5 Mahi, to many sharks and alot of lost hooks . Overall trip was a blast .. here are just acouple cell phone pics .. plenty more pics to come
