5-31 report
Had a couple of drum caught in our area over the weekend, nothing huge, but in that 25lb range and they will make for a good meal! Also had more bass caught on clams, bunker and swimmers in the dark. Seems the best time for plugs is still in low light conditions, or at night.

Clams were still the most popular bait as a whole with our customers this weekend. Beaches are not filled up all day yet, so plenty of time to fish still before the bathers take over ina few weeks when the water warms up some. Keeping this in mind, remember if you see people in the water, you may as well keep going because they will scare the bass away!

Our biggest fluke weighed in this week was 7.14lbs and was caught in 65-70ft of water while fishing for ling. The bay and rivers are producing much more in the way of keepers still with the ocean water still being on the cooler side.

The bass keep coming in and alot of fish are hitting that 50lb mark this week. Clams are still and always will work great for bass but we are seeing more snagged bunker and plugs now as well. Some blues beng caught on our beaches this week again too.

If your throwing or dropping jigs, use a wide profile jig rather than the skinny Ava type jigs. These big fish have ling in their belly, so using that wide profile jig will find you more fish.

Swimmers, poppers and pencils have been catching fish at night and first light the last few days too.

Inside we have some good action on fluke, with live killies, Gulp! swimming shads and anything that will produce a swimming action working best right now. No big tide advantages as the bay is loaded with bait right now.

Report - 5/20/11
Bad weather has alowed for only windows of fishing time this week, but we do have a few die hard anglers getting out there. Some nice bass have been caught in between the weather, fish up to 32lbs from the sand in our area. Clams have still been working well, as the bunker is not concentrated yet and tough to find. If you can get bunker, GRAB IT!! SOme good results at night with swimmers and poppers as well.

Alot of boats are trolling up some nice bass just off the beaches and at times we are seeing these fish come in close chasing bait. Hopefuly some better weather will allow for some more fishing time this week. Its gong to blow open any time now!

Fishing was very good yesterday on our southern beaches in Brick. We had weigh ins up to 30lbs from the sand! Both baitand lures worked yesterday, which is a change from mostly bait working last few weeks. The Bunker are in the area, which will bring more artificial action in days to come.

Clams working well still. The time is here, get out there.

The surf is loaded with nice fluke. Unlike the boaters, we have more keepers than shorts being caught in the suds. Bucktails working very well as is a regular fluke rig /drift rig. If using the rig method, be sure to cast as far as you can and use a slow retrieval to bring it in. Sometimes letting it sit if the wash can get a good response.

Some small blues in the surf as well, 2-3lbs in size. Usual lures working, ( metals, swimmers). SOme nice brown sharks being caught at night in the surf too. They must be released. You can not keep a brown shark!! Be sure to use a chunking rig as they have some steel leader on them usually .

Keep you up to date!!!
